Unlike urns, which should remain undisturbed once placed, ancestor tablets are portable and allow families to pay respects conveniently without moving the urn. Traditionally crafted from wood, these tablets were made in various sizes and shapes, but today most are rectangular and available in modern materials such as glass, marble, jade, and even durable plastics.

Ancestor Tablets at Nirvana Memorial Garden
At Nirvana Memorial Garden Singapore, our Ancestor Tablets (also known as memorial tablets or spirit tablets) are housed in elegant, fully air-conditioned suite rooms, creating a serene and respectful space for families and friends to pay tribute to their loved ones. Each suite is thoughtfully designed with Buddha statues, blessing the departed and bringing peace to future generations.
Our crystal glass ancestor tablets, often crafted in flowing water shapes with lotus motifs and adorned with Mandala flowers, symbolize purity, good fortune, and blessings for the family lineage.
Tablet Categories & Personalization
We offer two main configurations to suit different family needs:

Option 1: Six names + two photos, or four names + four photos

Option 2: Two names + two photos, or four names
The first engraving service is complimentary, with additional name changes or photo engraving available at a small fee.
Relocation & Installation Ceremony
Nirvana Memorial Garden also provides relocation services for ancestral tablets from homes or temples. Our professional team assists in selecting an auspicious date for the transfer, followed by chanting rituals led by experienced Shi-fu.
Once a customer selects an ancestor tablet, Nirvana Singapore requires approximately 30 days for engraving and preparation. Upon completion, we arrange the Ancestor Tablet Installation (or Rising) Ceremony, where prayers are chanted to respectfully invite the ancestor’s spirit into the new tablet.
If the departed was previously placed in our 49-day An-Ling Prayer Room, the chanting ceremony is performed first in the prayer room and again before the new tablet, ensuring a smooth and respectful transition.
